ACCJ/TJCS Champagne Ball

By Carter Witt

Mark this date on your calendar: Friday November 17th 2006, the date of the first annual joint American Chamber of Commerce and Tokai Japan Canada Society Champagne Ball.

The event is a response to the growing recognition that Nagoya's international community is undergoing a sea change. More and more foreign businesses and businesspeople are taking up residence in the city and there is a greater need for social events where they can get to know each other. Until last year the ACCJ held an annual Fall Ball for its members. Meanwhile, the newly formed Tokai Canada Society started holding their annual event in the fall as well. Eager to synergize their efforts and create a more memorable evening, the two groups have joined forces. They came up with the theme - "Champagne" - and purpose - "Awards" - with the goal of recognizing those who have led the community and shown others the paths to success and satisfaction in participating in the international and Japanese business community.

The event, to be held in the swank Oogi ballroom of the Nagoya Hilton, is being sponsored by Lanson Champagne and there will be plenty of bubbly on hand. A variety of musical acts are being booked and the evening will feature various pavilions fitted out with comfortable seating and private bars where you can enjoy meeting new friends and old. The two groups are going all out to make certain that the event gets put in everyone's calendar as the social highlight of the season.

Tickets to the event can be purchased through the auspices of the Tokai Japan Society or the Chubu Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce. For more information contact Noriko Kato at (052) 229-1525.
