artist q&a

What are you presenting here?

I am presenting some of my past works from 2009 and one a new work from 2010 called "Okara's". All of these works were made in Japan with commitment and pleasure.

Why are you doing what you are doing?

I always liked photography and painting, and I tried to combine these to create something new. Also, I am interested in the representation of the objective reality by means of personal memories and emotions. I superimpose pieces of the world to make the right matches between it and my feeling.

What are your aspirations?

Getting married with a wonderful woman (done). Taking pictures all over the world (I'm working on it). Making two sons and one daughter (I'm working on this). Organizing the biggest art show in the world (difficult). Having a beer with Frank Zappa and Jimi Hendrix (...).

the experts' view

Celio H. Barreto: The explosive collage approach of this artist brings a heightened sense of dynamism and chaos to his compositions. It is a real treat to see how iconic images are treated through the extensive use of overlaid transparent image layers and how the various elements within them interact and mix with each other. The sharp color contrasts and seemingly random patterns that form around the main subject energize the final image with a sense of movement and fluidity. Every inch of the picture plane is rich in detail and vibrant colors. Really beautiful work.

Guido Saldaña: A visual assault of color with multiple layers of personality, with each image pulling you in for a subliminal message.
