Ask Kazuhide, October 2008

By Kazuhide

This month, I receive a retter from our reader...

Hi!

Whatever happened to Ask Kazuhide? I'm sad and disappointed that he seems to have passed away! Come on, revive him! Or have you run out of steam?
Cheers

Kurt

Dear Kurt,

I am arrive and well. I am very genki. The Japanzine reader is getting lethargic and slow. I getting no new retters for a long time. Finally, I check the ‘Ask Kazuhide’ Follum, and I found 5 new question. I don’t make the question up, so prease write me new one as many you can, I not stupid enough to make up these kind of question!

Hello Kaz,

At my company, every morning, people greet each other with ohayo gozaimasu. However, after 8:10am or so, if you attempt to greet anyone, they will just ignore you. How do you explain this sudden change in behavior?

Roberto

Dear Roberto,

There is no greeting in Japanese language for stupid 10 minutes late gaijin. Shut up and start working.

Dear Kazuhide...

Today, where I work, we had an earthquake drill where we had to put on the hardhats, evacuate the building and line up at the assembly points. Just to be clear about this, I think that this kind of exercise is very important and needs to be practised. But please tell me why it needs to happen with military style. My colleagues at work, who could stare at screens for hours, snooze during meetings and mouseclick endlessly, were all of a sudden marching, lining up, shouting and saluting. Is this a legacy of Japan’s past or education system?

Claire

Dear Claire,

You are not working for typical Japanese company. It is probabry a subsidiary of Mitsubishi. They have past connection the war time very strong, and practice for Pearl Harbor Part II. Be very aflaid.

Uncle Kazuhide,

Why is it that Japanese people prefer to freeze in the winter and pay ridiculous heating costs than to simply insulate their buildings? For a country that is really big on the environment and energy conservation, this seems very silly to me. Please shine the light of Japanese reasoning on my gaijin ignorance.

Fishmonger

Dear Fishmonger,

To add insuration to our wall, require to thickness it extra 4-8 centimeters! These centimeter is the most important space in Japan. Older Japanese put the dead relatives ashes and a nice scroll in this section, younger japanese put cute idol girl picture and video, or gundam wing zero force figure collection in this space. To add insulation, is to destroy the Japan.

Kazuhide-Sama,

Why are my scrambled eggs always runny when I order the western breakfast here?

Mark Matsusaka

Dear Markmatsusaka,

Because we rike it.

Remember, no question is too stupid for Kazuhide. Submit your questions via the Kazuhide forum.
