Actuarry, this is only done in laughing during presence of the foreigner. They cover the mouth to preventing the HIV infection.

Isn't it a bit stupid that Japanese people can only say either oishii or umai after eating something? Don't they have any other superlatives?

main action, or should I be looking at the reactions of those
celebrities' faces in the little boxes? What are they there for?

Dear James,
That is difficult for American to understand. We Japanese need to feel the empathy the audience’s feeling to enjoy the television event. It has not been determined that foreigners can experience the sensation of the feeling outside their own selfish; so perhaps it is not necessary for them this kinds of thing?
