MASA: Exquisite Seafood Overlooking Nagoya

By Japanzine Staff

Calling all sophisticated romantics and seafood gourmets! A phenomenally stylish new restaurant has appeared just steps from Nagoya Station. MASA is everything we had been hoping for from a modern washoku restaurant in Nag, and then some. While upscale the pricing is quite reasonable, and the sophisticated atmosphere makes it perfect for entertaining business guests or, for that matter, visitors to Nagoya who want a truly enjoyable meal in a romantic and evocative atmosphere.

This top-floor hideaway offers stunning views of the city and also provides seven unique dining spaces. These are all comfortable and offer both intimate spaces as well as areas more suited to a convivial group.

And it's not just the restaurant that looks the part - the balance of the menu is such that dishes' presentation and flavor are pitched at an equally refined level. It's all pretty special. Those who want to drop by for a drink should be sure to check out their superbly stocked bar, which features a wide range of wines and shochu. In fact, the bar alone is worth a visit - it's quite upscale.

While spectacular kaiseki courses (reservations required) - featuring such epicurean delights as fried anago with almonds - are available at ¥5,000, ¥7,000 and ¥10,000, cheaper options on the a la carte menu begin at an eminently reasonable rate of just ¥350 (drinks start at ¥450).
