Ear-plugs topped with ear muffs and some kind of soundproofed bike helmet: all necessary items for this gig by the most fearsome noise rock duo ever to come out of Rhode Island. Support from Hair Stylistics, too - oh mercy!

saturday 7th

Cool Wise Men @ Shibuya Club Quattro (19:00 | ¥3,000)

One of Japan's most consistent ska bands; light relief after that Lightning Bolt show.

sunday 8th

neconemuru @ O-Nest (18:30 | ¥2,800/¥3,300)

Super-fun "pentatonic punk" from Osaka... Oh yeah!

monday 9th

Franz Ferdinand @ Tokyo International Forum (19:00 | ¥7,000)

Tight trousers, even tighter hooks: it can only be Franz.

saturday 14th

Damon & Naomi @ Aoyama Moonromantic (19:00 | ¥2,800/¥3,300)

The charming ex-Galaxie 500 duo bring their friendly folk to the wonderfully-monickered Moonromantic venue in Aoyama. Great for a date, this one.

monday 16th

Oki Dub Ainu Band @ Shibuya Club Quattro (19:00 | ¥3,500)

Hokkaido's semi-legendary Ainu Dub Band hit the capital with their bass-driven world music. Highly recommended.

wednesday 18th

Yoko Ono & Plastic Ono Band @ Tokyo International Forum (19:00 | ¥8,000)

The one and only Yoko Ono - with a little help from her friends, including Keigo Oyamada (Cornelius) and Harumi Hosono (YMO), and her part-time car salesman son Sean. Go!

friday 20th

Delphic @ Astro Hall (19:00 | ¥3,900)

This decent, if slightly pompous-sounding, "electronic indie" band were supposed to be touring with Bloc Party, but then Bloc Party cancelled at the last minute. Probably just as well.

saturday 21st

Elektraglide presents WARP 20 @ Makuhari Messe (21:00 | ¥8,500)

A mindmeltingly awesome line-up for this massive celebration of the inimitable Warp label, including appearances from Battles, Andrew Weatherall, !!!, Chris Cunningham, LFO, Flying Lotus and Hudson Mohawke. Wowzers!

thursday 26th

Super Furry Animals @ Shibuya AX (19:00 | ¥6,500)
