Changes in the JLPT for 2010

From 2010, the JLPT (Just Like Pulling Teeth) test is changing to be more of a test of your actual language ability as opposed to a test of your cramming skills, as well as the addition of an extra level to bridge the gap between the original levels 2 and 3, the latter of which has received a demotion to level 4.

The good?

Rumored sections on oral and writing skills have not been introduced. Phew! You can stop sweating now.

The previous three sections have been condensed into two, theoretically making things simpler.

The bad?
The test questions, which previously were fairly predictable and easily studied for by buying a book or practice test for a tenner are going to become more random.

It is now a requirement to pass both sections of the test individually instead of having an overall pass or fail mark.
